Cable has Xbox 360 plug, with Optical socket, at one end; & S-Video, plain / composite video plug, stereo audio plugs at other end.

AV / S-VIDEO:
Can use either standard 'composite' Video or S-Video plug for video - there is a sliding switch on the side of the Xbox360 plug to switch between them.

Composite video is the most common video standard, the vast majority of TVs have RCA sockets to match plug on this cable.
S-Video is less common, but gives a better picture, as S-Video cables carry parts of the video signal(Luma & Chroma) seperately. Composite video combines all of the signal, resulting in image degradation.
Anything with an S-Video in socket can be used with the s-video plug on this cable.

Red & White RCA plugs carry standard stereo analog audio, to your TV/stereo.
5.1 audio(see below) is a better option if you have equipment to use 5.1 digital audio.

OPTICAL SOCKET (5.1 DIGITAL AUDIO) :
Optical digital audio(Toslink) = connect to Dolby Digital 5.1 receiver for surround sound, for both games & movies.
