Cable has Xbox 360 plug, with Optical socket, at one end; Component Video plugs, Composite video(can plug into almost all TVs) plug, stereo audio plugs at other end. Good quality cable. Cable length: 170cm
COMPONENT VIDEO: Component video cables provide excellent picture quality. Component video carries the signal in 3 wires = Y(luminance),Pr & Pb(colour information), which improves picture quality due to several technical reasons. Component Video from Xbox 360 also supports HDTV(see below for more info on HDTV). There is a switch on the Xbox 360 plug to select between standard video & HDTV.
HDTV (High Definition TV): HDTV is the term for video displayed with a higher resolution than standard video. This can drastically improve picture quality. Your TV needs to support HDTV to be able to use HDTV, HDTV is common on most recent TVs(almost all LCD & Plasma TVs support HDTV).
All Xbox 360 games support at least 720p, but can scale down to lower resolutions. The HDTV video standards supported by Xbox 360 are 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. 480p, 576p playback for DVD movies is also supported.
COMPOSITE VIDEO: Composite video is the most common video standard, the vast majority of TVs have RCA sockets to match plug on this cable. Video quality using composite video isn't as good as Component video though(see info above)
AUDIO: Red & White RCA plugs carry standard stereo analog audio, to your TV/stereo. 5.1 audio(see below) is a better option if you have equipment to use 5.1 digital audio.
OPTICAL SOCKET (5.1 DIGITAL AUDIO) : Optical digital audio(Toslink) = connect to 5.1 Dolby Digital/AC3 receiver for surround sound, for both games & movies. Optical cable is not included.
