Coaxial Digital Audio cable = for Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, & other digital sound formats. Cable length: 2m
High quality cable, nice & thick, & is made using Oxygen Free Copper(OFC). It's debatable if OFC makes any difference, but some people like it. Plugs are a gold colour, but I suspect it isn't gold-plated. It may be some other soft metal to provide better connection, or just a coating to prevent corrosion.
Most common use is to connect from your DVD player to a 5.1 surround sound receiver/amplifier with a coaxial digital audio input. Will work with any device that has a coax digital audio output or input.
There is a lot of debate about the audio quality from a coaxial cable vs an optical cable, & expensive cable vs cheap cable. One point of debate is whether there is any difference at all. From everything I've read, it's technically possible(but unlikely) there could be some difference - even if there was the difference would be tiny, & insignificant compared to all other equipment in a home theater, audio, etc setup.
Optical cables can carry the same signal as these cables, but with optical cable, their is no possibility of interference at all due to the way they work. Optical cables use fibre optic cable (not conductive metal cable like coaxial etc) to carry light beams. This ensures a pure digital signal, with no interference. It also means it should eliminate ground loop hum. BUT coaxial is cheaper, more robust than an optical cable, and some people believe that coaxial can provide a better signal.
If you would like an optical cable, please view my other items.

As this is a 75ohm cable, using RCA plugs (which is the standard for both digital coax audio & for analog video), you can also use this as a video cable if wanted. My other cables are usually more suitable for this though.
