Use to connect a device with an HDMI output to a display with a DVI input, or connect a device with an DVI output to a display with a HDMI input.
Please note that DVI carries video only, HDMI can carry both video & audio. Of course, you can use a separate cable for audio - as long as the device(s) support video & audio from seperate plugs.
DVI & HDMI can carry digital video up to High Definition resolutions(up to 1080p)
Could use to view PC data(DVI socket on video card) on you HDTV(with HDMI socket)
HDMI-enabled devices are backwards compatible with the broad array of DVI-based PCs so you can display PC gaming or entertainment content on your HDTV. HDMI is fully compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface). TVs with HDMI will display video received from existing DVI-equipped products, and DVI-equipped TVs will display video from HDMI sources such as set-top boxes, DVD players, A/V receivers and other home theater and entertainment components.
NOTE: Won't fit sockets marked 'DVI (M1-DA)', as these use a non-standard connector - these aren't very common anyway though.
