Some devices that often support VGA in: Computer monitors Projectors, many LCD, DLP & CRT projectors have VGA sockets. Plasma TV LCD TV Projection TVs(not sure how common this is) = probably most common on recent LCD projection TVs some CRT TVs also have VGA sockets, this is quite rare though it seems
Some devices that often support VGA out: Computers DVD players that support Progressive-scan, many recent DVD players support Progressive-scan, though not all have a VGA socket
About HTPCs (Home Theatre PCs) : Some people use a computer as a source for playing DVDs on a projector, Plasma TV or similar. This is because a computer can supply excellent picture quality on these devices. It also means you can play games etc in high quality on the display.
